Manchester City defeats Southampton in the Premier League

Manchester City won by a 0-3 score against Southampton on 15th of April.

They are third in the league table, seven points ahead of the fifth-placed Everton and eleven behind the tops, Chelsea.

Vincent Kompany scored his first goal since the previous play against Chelsea in 2015 when they won by a 3-0 score. He made the opener after the break in the 55th minute, firing David Silva’s pass past the home keeper, Fraser Forster.

The second one came from Leroy Sane in the 77th minute who launched Kevin de Bruyne’s pass. Sergio Aguero sealed the win 3 minutes afterward, closing the score with his 3rd far-post volley.
Southampton managed to resist in the first half, but their defence began to fail after Kompany launched the first goal. They are ninth in the league table, and with previous 2 successive wins, they still have a way to gain 3 of them and set the record for their manager, Claude Puel.

Would City’s results look different if Kompany kept playing more often in his team? Many assume that they would be much closer to the leaders, Chelsea, and after such performance, there can’t be any disagreement.

City’s keeper, Claudio Bravo, rarely had to save, which was due to the resilient spirit that they showed in this game.

City has assured their place in the top-four, and it would be hard to believe that any team could take them down from their deserved place. With the same resilience and attacking harmony that they showed in this match, they may still be able to display some brilliant performances in this season.
