Manchester City Play a Draw Against Stoke City
Manchester City had the chance to close the gap between the league leaders, Chelsea, but after their match against Stoke City from 8th of March, they are remaining 10 points behind. If they had won this match, they would have moved to the second place – above Tottenham, but it seems that the battle for the silver title won’t be that easy.
City’s manager, Pep Guardiola released David Silva in the second half, but even he could not compensate for the sluggishness of his team. He made his best shot when he fired a wide low.
City had their only shot on target when Aleksandar Kolarov launched a free-kick that was saved by the keeper Lee Grant.
In this match, City played very poorly compared to their previous games against Monaco and Huddersfield. Their performance was either slump so that Stoke City had few moments when they were under pressure. One of home’s top players, Sergio Aguero, who scored 5 goals in the past 3 matches, couldn’t muster any substantial effort this time. Nicolas Otomendi and Leroy Sane also had chances to change the outcome, but their shots ended to be seen over the bar.
The Potters showed a brilliant game staying on the eighth place in the Premier League table. Throughout the match, they managed to maintain a steady defence in the back. They attacked more times, however, Saido Berahino’s and Bruno Martins’ shots were off target. Despite their misses, they managed to keep a clean sheet, what is a significant accomplishment at this stage.
